Aboutme.
I was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and earned my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Madras. In 2001, after getting married, I moved to the United States, where my husband and I have been blessed with two children.
Education has always been my passion. I have been tutoring students for two decades, spent ten years running my own tutoring center, Smartling Learning Center, as a woman entrepreneur, and served as a substitute teacher in LUSD from 2017 to 2019. I am also a strong advocate for the mental and physical wellness of students, which inspired me to pursue my Master's in High School Counseling.
Long before joining the board, education and service were already at the center of my life. I organized community events like the Smartling Spelling Bee and Holly Jolly Christmas, mentored students on the Youth Tribune Newspaper while raising funds for foster children, and offered free tutoring to foster kids during COVID.
I served as MHHS PTSA President in 2017, coached Math Olympiad and Science Bowl, and volunteered as a judge for Speech and Debate, DECA, and Nazarene Bible Quizzing. As a parent, I cheered on and volunteered with the MHHS Orchestra and Choir, Girls Water Polo, and Boys Varsity Volleyball. Each of these experiences showed me how much our students can achieve when families, educators, and the community work together.
It has been a privilege to serve LUSD. I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3, 2026. Together, let's continue building strong and safe schools for every student.
